Colour Bleeding Test

This test is performed in the clothes manufacturing industry to see the sustainability of colours. It is important for customers to wash the new cloth as early as possible to check the colour sustainability. This can also lead to faster refunds.

Shrinkage Test

This test is performed to check the retention of original size of clothes in manufacturing industry but due to bulk manufacturing most of the industries can not do this on each sample and some industries even ignore this test. It is again very important for buyers to check the size bought initially and the size after first few washes and if it changed massively, they can re-visit the shop or get replacement that depends upon the seller.

Pilling Test

This test is used to check the fabric is not leaving little threads while manufacturing. This can be checked when the clothes are bought brand new as some places can be missed or ignored by manufacturers due to cost. Many manufacturers keep very high-quality standards but due to various reasons this can be missed, ignored, or not done on every fabric.

Slippage Test

This test is used by manufacturers to check the strengths of threads in various sections of fabrics. Customers can also check this when it is new.

Conclusion

As every company has limited time for refunds or replacements, it is very important for customers to check this as soon as they are bought. It does not matter the brand of clothing as quality checks is not performed on every single fabric or can be missed due to various reasons.

  1. Very useful post. It’s is very easy to lose money that one wouldn’t if they did a few things. I’ve been a victim sometimes on this one.

    What stands out for me is mostly the shrinkage and color bleeding tests. Quite often I’ve bought fabric that after a few days hardly fits me or has changed color from the one I thought i bought

    On average how late is late for refund?

  2. Depending upon the company and there. We had a lot of issues as some companies says 14 days and some one month, so always check before leaving or in the receipt.
